Are you ready to experience the intersection of history, culture, and breathtaking natural beauty? This September, PBS North invites you on a curated journey through the heart of the Atlantic Coast and the Canadian Maritime Provinces.
From the revolutionary streets of Boston to the European charm of Quebec City, this isn’t just a vacation, it’s a celebration of the stories that shaped our continent.
🛳️ The Journey at a Glance
Our 11-day getaway (September 17–27, 2026) combines the best of land and sea. We begin with an immersion into America’s colonial past before boarding the elegant Holland America ship, the Volendam, for a scenic seven-night cruise.
Highlight Destinations:
- Boston, MA: Walk the Freedom Trail and visit the Boston Tea Party Museum.
- The JFK Presidential Library: Step into the life and legacy of one of our most beloved leaders.
- The Maritimes: Explore the rugged beauty of Halifax and Sydney, Nova Scotia, and the red-sand shores of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.
- Quebec & Montreal: Experience the French-Canadian “Joie de Vivre” with guided tours and leisure time in these historic cities.
Fun Fact: This trip coincides with the lead-up to America’s 250th birthday, making our visits to historic colonial sites even more meaningful!
⚓ Life on the Volendam
Travel in comfort and style. Your cruise includes all meals aboard the ship and your choice of three stateroom options:
- Vista Suite: For those who want extra space and a view.
- Oceanview Stateroom: Perfect for watching the Gulf of St. Lawrence drift by.
- Inside Stateroom: A cozy, high-value option for the active traveler.
Between ports, enjoy “scenic cruising” days where the ship becomes a floating observatory for the stunning coastal landscapes.

Natalie is deeply committed to the mission of PBS North, connecting our community through programs that inspire and enrich lives.
“I am so excited to see these historic sites through the eyes of our viewers,” says Natalie. “Public media is all about lifelong learning, and there is no better classroom than the Freedom Trail or the shores of Nova Scotia.”
When she isn’t working with our wonderful donors and partners, you can find Natalie baking, reading, or enjoying time with her family.
