What is PBS North’s Emerging Leaders Board?

A: It’s a group of viewers and community members who come together twice a year – typically in the spring and the fall – to hear about PBS North's production and outreach activities and provide feedback. The role of this board is to advise PBS North's staff and the Board of Directors if our programming is meeting the educational and cultural needs of their community and provide suggestions for improvement. The feedback received during these meetings is taken into consideration in future programming decisions.

While the general public is invited to participate in these meetings, the Sounding Board is a formal board, which community members are welcome to join. Members are encouraged to serve for a minimum of two years to get to know fellow board members and the station on a deeper level, as well as provide continuity for the station.

The board commitment consists of attending the twice/year Sounding Board meetings in either Duluth or Hibbing. While all attendees are encouraged to participate, members of the board can also vote.
